Ingredients

Scale

For the Sandwich:

  • 4 large croissants: Fresh or slightly warmed. Croissants should be soft, buttery, and flaky, making them the ideal base for the sandwich.
  • 4 large eggs: Eggs are the heart of any breakfast sandwich. They can be scrambled, fried, or even poached, depending on your preference.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese: Cheddar, mozzarella, or Swiss are great choices. The cheese will melt beautifully over the warm eggs and add a rich flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter: For cooking the eggs and adding a touch of richness.
  • Fresh vegetables: This is optional but adds freshness to the sandwich. Sliced tomatoes, spinach, or avocado work well in this sandwich.
  • Halal turkey or chicken sausage (optional): For a savory protein addition, you can use halal-certified turkey or chicken sausage, which is a great alternative to pork.
  • Salt and pepper: To season the eggs and filling to taste.

For Garnish (Optional):

  • Fresh herbs: A sprinkle of fresh parsley, cilantro, or chives adds color and flavor.
  • Hot sauce: For a spicy kick, drizzle a little hot sauce over the sandwich before serving.
  • Extra cheese slices: If you love extra cheesy sandwiches, add an additional slice of cheese on top.

Instructions

First Step: PREPARE THE CROISSANTS

  1. Warm the Croissants: If your croissants are fresh, you can skip this step. However, if you’re using day-old croissants, warm them up in a 350°F (175°C) oven for about 5-7 minutes to restore their flakiness. You can also warm them in a toaster oven. The goal is to achieve a crispy exterior while keeping the interior soft and buttery.
  2. Slice the Croissants: Once the croissants are warm, carefully slice them in half horizontally. Be gentle to avoid crushing the delicate layers. Set the croissant halves aside.

Second Step: COOK THE EGGS

  1. Whisk the Eggs: Crack the eggs into a bowl, add a pinch of salt and pepper, and whisk until well combined. The more you whisk, the fluffier your eggs will be when cooked.
  2. Cook the Eggs: Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil or butter. Once melted and hot, pour in the eggs. Stir occasionally to ensure they cook evenly, breaking up the eggs as they set into soft curds. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until the eggs are cooked through but still soft and creamy. If you prefer firmer eggs, let them cook a little longer.

Third Step: ASSEMBLE THE SANDWICH

  1. Prepare the Bottom Croissant Half: Place the bottom half of each croissant on a plate or serving tray.
  2. Layer the Eggs: Scoop a generous portion of the scrambled eggs and place them on the bottom half of each croissant. Make sure the eggs cover the entire surface.
  3. Add Cheese: Sprinkle shredded cheese on top of the eggs. If you like extra cheese, feel free to add more! The heat from the eggs will help the cheese melt, creating a creamy, cheesy layer.
  4. Add Protein (Optional): If you’re adding halal turkey or chicken sausage, slice the sausage into rounds or crumble it and place it on top of the cheese layer. This will add a savory, satisfying protein boost to the sandwich.
  5. Add Vegetables: Top the eggs with your choice of vegetables. Fresh spinach, sliced tomatoes, and avocado are all excellent choices that will add flavor and freshness to the sandwich.
  6. Place the Top Croissant Half: Finish the sandwich by placing the top half of the croissant on top of the filling. Press down lightly to hold everything in place.

Fourth Step: SERVE

  1. Serve Immediately: Once assembled, serve the croissant breakfast sandwiches immediately while they’re still warm. You can garnish with fresh herbs like parsley or cilantro, or even drizzle some hot sauce over the top for extra flavor.
  2. Enjoy: Take a bite and enjoy the satisfying combination of flaky croissant, creamy eggs, melted cheese, and savory toppings. It’s a breakfast sandwich that’s guaranteed to start your day on the right note.
