– 1 medium onion, chopped
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 medium carrot, grated
– 1 medium potato, peeled and diced
– 2 eggs
– 2 tablespoons soy sauce
– 1/2 teaspoon salt (to taste)
– 1/4 teaspoon pepper (to taste)
– 2 tablespoons cooking oil
– Optional: chopped green onions for garnish
Instructions
Creating Tortang Giniling can be easy if you follow these simple steps:
1. Heat Oil: In a large skillet, heat the cooking oil over medium heat.
2. Sauté Aromatics: Add the chopped onions and minced garlic, sautéing until they become translucent and fragrant.
3. Cook Ground Meat: Add the ground pork or beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.
4. Add Vegetables: Stir in the grated carrots and diced potatoes. Sauté for about 5 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
5. Season Mixture: Pour in the soy sauce, and season with salt and pepper. Mix well to ensure the meat and vegetables are evenly seasoned. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
6. Mix in Eggs: In a separate bowl, crack the eggs and beat them. Stir the beaten eggs into the meat and vegetable mixture until fully combined.
7. Preheat Pan: Wipe the skillet clean and add a little more oil. Heat over medium-high.
8. Cook Tortang Giniling: Pour the mixture into the skillet, spreading it evenly. Cook for about 4-5 minutes until the bottom is brown and set.
9. Flip: Carefully flip the Tortang Giniling using a plate. Slide it back into the skillet to cook the other side for an additional 4-5 minutes until golden brown.
10. Serve: Once cooked, transfer to a serving dish. Optionally, garnish with chopped green onions before slicing and serving.
